  WEEK -5
March 13-16, 2023

Hooray for my 5th week, it was a productive one but a little bit nervous, since our co-practice teachers is done with their 1st observation by our supervisor. I always assume that whenever and whatever time she'll come to surprise me so, as an extra teacher I always prepare the materials and things I need for my everyday teaching and learning. The challenge I faced during this week was the preparation of materials every day, well from the very start it's hard/challenging to think/plan for the upcoming lesson. After all, I always want to prepare my materials in an engaging and fun while learning with my learners. Well, I'm still thankful for this week's progress of mine because I know day by day I'm improving and I'm proud to say it because everything I note and reflect on my teaching was becoming beneficial for me.
I had a minor issue this week managing my learner's disruptive behavior. He disrupts instruction and learning by throwing temper tantrums and interrupting other classes. Whenever he interrupted his classmates, I gave a warning as a student teacher and said, "Kapag sinaktan mo pa yang kaklase mo, tatawagin at isusumbong kita kay Daddy mo." Yes, I used his dad's name because the kid is afraid of his father, and my CT uses that as a reason if the child misbehaves. It was effective, although sometimes he may not want to do the task at hand, I told him "Hindi ka magrerecess kapag hindi ka gumawa ng activity mo", then suddenly he'll make his tasks and I am happy because of his willingness and dedication in learning. I tried to eliminate an unpleasant stimulus to urge the child to perform in a particular manner rather than using direct punishment when anything bad happened. This is known as negative reinforcement. As I watched the child that week, I noticed that he was making adjustments, such as starting his task before complaining since he thought he would get a snack right away after finishing.
It takes a lot of patience, especially when dealing with the behaviors of students. This week, one of the highlights had me having to exercise patience with my learners, who knew just how to make me feel okay. I am happy and contented with this week's experience and still, I'm looking forward to more experiences that are probably something better that enhance me asa n intern about my teaching skills, classroom management and progress as well.
